Your donation allows us to deliver education programs, creating lifelong memories that inspire people to conserve the natural world.

How your donations help us:

Education

The majority of the Saskatoon Zoo Society’s efforts are environmental education programs. We deliver curriculum-connected school programs and a variety of week-long and day camps.

Care of Animals

The Saskatoon Zoo Society gives back to the Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park and Zoo to help improve the lives of the animals at the Zoo. Your Adopt-a-Critter donations assist us in this area.

Education

The Saskatoon Zoo Society partners with the Saskatoon Nature Society to gather information on the status of several of our Saskatchewan species. You can get involved by participating in Citizen Scientist research through our Young Naturalists Programs.

Public Interpretation

Value-added programming is important to the Saskatoon Zoo Society. Every summer, the Saskatoon Zoo Society is out and about delivering interpretive programming. You may have tried your hand at pond-dipping, experienced some of our animal artefacts or talked to someone in the butterfly gardens. All of these activities are free with your Zoo admission, but can’t happen without your support.

The Nick Laursen Memorial Fund

In Memory of Nick Laursen

A Memorial Fund has been set up by Nick Laursen’s parents and the Saskatoon Zoo Society to honour his memory and to support something that Nick held dear – teaching people about the wildlife at the Zoo.

Nick joined the Saskatoon Zoo Society as a volunteer in June of 2015. His infectious smile and work ethic was obvious from the beginning. Nick was passionate about his volunteer duties and was hoping that someday it would lead him to a zookeeper position at the Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park and Zoo. Nick was a dedicated interpreter who was ever so gracious when talking to the public about the animals with which he had spent so much time.

In the summer of 2018, he was hired on to drive the Kinsmen Express Train in the Zoo. He was a great asset on the train as he was steady and reliable and came with a wealth of knowledge about the animals he deeply cared for at the Zoo.

His dedication and enthusiasm for all he did for the Saskatoon Zoo Society will be truly missed. Please help us honour him by making a donation to the Nick Laursen Memorial Fund. This fund allows the Saskatoon Zoo Society to deliver environmental education programs to classrooms and other groups that are unable to afford the cost of the programs.
