Welcome to the Saskatoon Zoo Society!
In 1976, a group of concerned citizens recognized the education potential of the Forestry Farm Zoo. They started a group called the Saskatoon Regional Zoological Society (SRZS). The aims of the SRZS were to ensure the animals held at the Zoo were cared for properly, to fundraise for better facilities at the Zoo, and to provide educational programming.
The SRZS became The Saskatoon Zoo Society (SZS), and today, The Saskatoon Zoo Society is a non-profit charity dedicated to fostering respect for nature through environmental education. The dedicated staff and volunteer team deliver over 400 environmental education programs every year.
The Saskatoon Zoo Society is one of the largest environmental education organizations delivering programs out of the only accredited Zoo in Saskatchewan. Although we are not the Zoo, we have a close working relationship with the Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park and Zoo.
